Frequently asked questions

What does The Inclusivity Project actually do?

We work to end untouchability and every form of discrimination based on caste, occupation, inherited status and descent-based slavery. We train grassroots activists to document rights violations, take that evidence to UN and regional human rights mechanisms, support women and young people to lead, and press governments to reform discriminatory laws. In 2025 we raised these issues 83 times at international human rights forums.

Which communities does The Inclusivity Project work with?

Communities Discriminated on Work and Descent, on four continents: Dalits across India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka; Roma in Europe and Latin America; Haratine, Osu and other communities facing descent-based slavery in Africa; and Quilombola and Palenque communities in Brazil and Colombia. We also work with IMADR on protections for Burakumin communities in Japan.

Are donations to The Inclusivity Project tax-deductible?

All donations and gifts to The Inclusivity Project INC (EIN 82-4971648), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Gifts are processed securely by Stripe, which collects your name and billing address so a receipt can be issued. The Inclusivity Project never sees your card details.

What is a Rights Monitor?

A Rights Monitor is a community activist trained to identify, document and raise rights violations where they live. They gather testimony safely, record abuses, and take local evidence into national, regional and global advocacy. Trained rights experts are on the ground in 21 countries, ready to escalate a case to the United Nations. Supporting one costs $400 a month.

Where is The Inclusivity Project based?

Our UN address is 777 United Nations Plaza, Room 10A, New York, NY 10017, USA, and our admin office is at 115 Rumsey Rd, Yonkers, New York, NY 10705, USA. The quickest way to reach us is by email at admin@theinclusivityproject.org, or through the form on our contact page.

What has The Inclusivity Project achieved so far?

Sixteen African countries now have stronger legal frameworks against slavery-like systems, through our work on the African Commission's Resolution 619. Mali's 2023 Constitution prohibits slavery outright. Dalit rights are written into Nepal's constitution. In 2025 we co-developed UN Women's first-ever global policy brief on women from CDWD communities, and submitted 25 violation reports to UN mechanisms.
